the rise method of color analysis

12 seasonal types

In the Rise Method, each parent season (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) is characterized by a combination of three traits: Warm, Cool, Bright, Soft, Deep, & Light. Each of the traits further characterizes a nuanced sub-season of colors, all of which still retain the influence of the parent season:

our aesthetic goals

Every color analysis system out there prioritizes different aesthetic goals. The Rise Method prioritizes two outcomes in our clients: illumination and harmony.

Illumination is the undeniable GLOW that seems to radiate from behind the skin, bringing vitality and magnetic energy to the face. This is what stops people in their tracks and say, “WOW you look incredible!”

Harmony is the shared traits of a seasonal palette that mirror one’s innate personal coloring, creating a comfortable, balanced image. Harmony allows a palette of colors not only to compliment the client, but also to align seamlessly with each other in a holistic wardrobe.

We identify and quantify both illumination and harmony in order to consistently analyze our clients’ seasonal  and sub-seasonal palette.

Our ultimate goal is to empower and equip our clients to make well-resourced, educated choices that celebrate their innate magic and unique perspective. No color is ever off-limits once our clients have the tools they need to express themselves authentically and intentionally.

the power of comparison

Our greatest tool in color analysis is comparison. Only by comparing precise colors on a client, in real time, can we reveal the effects of the drapes within our clients’ complexions.

When colors change, the light bends. Our minds organize that light into perceptible images, using shadow and focus to make sense of our surroundings. The color analyst’s job is to wield the light to bring our clients’ unique beauty into perfect focus.

The drapes do all the work, and our job is to interpret the way the light interacts. Through a series of repeatable and targeted tests, the palette that aligns naturally and seamlessly with the client will reveal itself.

our job as color analysts

Our job is to remain open throughout the analysis, and to identify the predictable patterns revealed by applying targeted color comparisons. Only then can we allow the drapes to reveal the client’s true season - and take them on an empowering journey full of discoveries.

We don’t simply reveal the palette to the client. We educate them about why their palette works for them, how to identify their colors “in the wild”, as well as how to begin using their colors in their wardrobe and makeup in the ways that feel good and right to them.

Rise Styling offers holistic style transformation. Color analysis is one pillar of the Style Biology Method™ and is the first step for Rise Styling clients. When we analyze a client, we are given the honor of guiding them onto a life-long path of powerful self-actualization and authentic expression.

As Rise Method analysts, we form deep, values-aligned relationships with clients that last for years.

rise method values

There are three core values I expect all Rise Method analysts to uphold:

  1. Celebration - it is my firm belief that our experience of color is a celebration of the physics of light, and the unique interaction we have with the physical world. Secondly, I believe that our personal coloring is a celebration of the very fact that we managed to arrive on this Earth. Everyone is a masterpiece.

It is our great privilege to help our clients begin to celebrate the way they were made, sometimes for the very first time.

  2. Curiosity - a Rise Method color analyst is open-minded, eager to learn, and unafraid of a challenge. The right person for this program believes that mistakes are an invitation to go deeper. We also believe that the clients that work with us chose us to witness their unique self-exploration journey, and that is a profound honor.

Experts are teachers. Teachers love to learn. Learners reject perfection.

  3. Connection - by connecting with our clients through color, we empower our clients to experience a deeper connection with themselves. This connection unlocks opportunities for our clients to take up more space, be more generous with their gifts and talents, and make a greater impact on their communities and the world.

Color analysis is not just about looking prettier. It’s about growing and evolving into our fullest, realest, most intrinsically truthful self.
